A virgin may fend off rain by growing lemongrass upside-down under an open sky, according to Thai folklore. This practice is to be carried out by a young production manager on a movie set. She doesn’t have an option but to take on the role of the lemongrass girl (WMW 2024).

Chang Wu-My Ching’s Grandmother is an Egg – Taiwan | 2024 – 8 minutes
Eggs are delicate yet tough at the same time. My grandma is shaped like an egg. T’ung-yang-hsi was my grandmother’s name. It is a traditional practice of selling young girls to another family for the purpose of raising them as future daughters-in-law. The film seeks to highlight women’s oppression (WMW 2024).

Usay is an Amis name that means “loved one.” Chih-Yuan is a Han-Chinese name that means “wise and peaceful.” A conversation between Chih-Yuan and Usay exists between the Taoyuan-Saowac and Hualien-Matalin tribes. This route of searching out Usay and settling in Chih-Yuan requires bravery and is a vital one to pursue (WMW 2024).
